Bjørnar Svingen- New employee at FDB

Bjørnar Svingen, who was one of the founding members of FDB back in 2001, returns and reunites with FDB the autumn of 2024. Bjørnar strengthens the team working on digitalization of the hydropower business, and FDB benefits from including one of the leading authorities on dynamics in flow systems.

Bjørnar has a formidable CV from the hydropower business starting with his PhD work at NTNU in 1996 on fluid-structure-interaction between water conduit dynamics and the mechanical structure of piping systems. He held positions as a Post Doc at NTNU, researcher at SINTEF, as an expert engineer at Hymatek/Rainpower/ Aker Solutions and a Professor II position at NTNU Vannkraftlaboratoriet (the Hydropower Laboratory). From a modest programming- start at FDB in 2002 Bjørnar developed the open-source engineering software LVTrans now used by several major companies in the business and for the calculation of dynamics and stability in hydropower plants. Over the years Bjørnar published a significant number of scientific articles based on his different roles.

The unique competency of Bjørnar fits perfect with HydroCord, FDB’s data acquisition and edge solution for digitalization in the Hydropower business. With Bjørnar’s knowledge of dynamics and hydropower FDB will develop and deploy different types of edge-analysis that we expect to contribute significantly to the value creation within the business. Bjørnar joins a forward-looking team, but a team with established processes for including software solutions in a robust framework. The future will be exciting, and we wish Bjørnar welcome.
